Greetings from the Carstens family! For decades, we have provided unique, rustic home décor for lodges, cabins, and homes in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the world. Located in Burlington, Washington in the beautiful Skagit Valley, our small, family-owned business is known for providing quality, one-of-a-kind products that you simply can’t get anywhere else!

Our story began in the 1970’s when Frances Carstens began making Christmas ornaments from sheepskin that she tanned herself. Gaining traction from the success of these ornaments, Frances then created a lamb’s wool duster, which quickly became popular at fairs, craft shows, and other venues.

Local retailers soon asked if they could carry her products, and a thriving business was born! Frances’s immense creativity and love of animals next led her and her husband, Jim, to design the very first Friendly Footstool—a sturdy, lovable bear stool covered in lamb’s wool. This signature product is still handcrafted today!

In the late 1990’s, Frances’s son, Roger Parkinson, took over the wholesale part of the business and since then our product line has greatly expanded. We now offer over 20 complete bedroom collections, featuring lodge, Western, and Southwestern themes; a range of wild and woodsy camouflage products; an adorable and rustic children’s line and a wide variety of accessories.

We take pride in the Carstens name. And though we look forward to continual growth and fresh ideas, we remain grounded in our rich heritage. However we expand, our original goal remains the same: to produce quality, unique products inspired by nature to delight the “wild at heart!”
